Bell of Northampton has celebrated its 120th anniversary by launching a new ecommerce website.
The company has invested £50,000 into the redesigned site, www.abell.co.uk, which now offers visitors a wider range of products across its interior furnishing, fire and stove, bathroom, and outdoor living departments, bringing a greater variety of luxury products online for the first time.
The family owned business, established in 1898, launched its first transactional website in 2014, replacing the dated information-only website that preceded it. In the last three years, the ecommerce side of the company has grown and now accounts for 25% of its business with a team of six people managing the website content, orders and enquiries.
Alongside the new departments, visitors can now take a virtual tour of the showroom from the comfort of their own home and will notice faster loading speeds, a new search bar and a section dedicated to the heritage and history of the company.
Richard Kingston, Ecommerce Manager at Bell of Northampton, said: “We knew that we wanted to develop our ecommerce offering but didn’t anticipate how in demand our products would be to an online audience. The growth of this department has far exceeded our expectations, which lead to us outgrowing our last website very quickly.
“The new website means that we can confidently offer our customers a 21st century shopping experience and give them what we have been told they want. We wanted the site to create the same aspirational feeling that visitors get when they walk into our store and we think we have achieved that.
“We are very proud of our 120-year heritage and the reason we have survived for so long is that we are constantly evolving and changing to meet the needs of our customers. This new website is a prime example of that.”
Bell of Northampton is located on Kingsthorpe Road, Northampton.
