Smart companies know that being a responsible member of their local community simply makes good business sense, and this is where the concept of “Corporate Social Responsibility” comes in.
Your CSR strategy allows you to ensure you are playing a responsible part in society, giving back to your local community, and helping to fund worthy, local causes. Customers see this and know that you’re invested in the area. Employees see this and know that you’re serious about looking after the area that you both call home. It’s a win win!
If you’re looking for a local worthy cause to get involved with, may I humbly suggest that you take a few moments to learn about Pride:MK?
Pride:MK was formed in 2018 as a project of Q:alliance, a long established charity (that is currently the only LGBTQ+ focused charity in the whole of MK) and two other local LGBTQ+ social meet up groups. Our members and service users were telling us loudly that MK needed a space to celebrate our diversity and help build a stronger, more supportive community – so we decided to create one!
Taking place on 14th September at Campbell Park and with an expected footfall of between 3 and 5 thousand people on the day, we are planning for the event to be family friendly and wheelchair accessible with BSL interpreters on site. There will be food, live music, entertainment and a stall area where local LGBTQ+ supportive businesses and service providers can connect with the community and sell / raise awareness of their products and services.
The MK based corporate community has already been very generous, and we were extremely lucky to have Santander UK come on board as our Headline Sponsor, Pink Punters as our Entertainment Sponsor, and the Milton Keynes Chapter of the NASUWT Teacher’s Union as a Bronze Sponsor.
More sponsors are soon to be announced, but funds are still needed to ensure a great (and accessible) day is had by all – and there’s still time for your company to be involved!
