Back to the future… planning for success

Local Northamptonshire businesses looking to plan for the future attended a breakfast event jointly hosted by Wilson Browne Solicitors and Barclays.

Held at the Franklins Gardens, home of the Saints Rugby Team, William Hobbs, Head of Investment Strategy at Barclays presented his thoughts on whether a recession was imminent, whether Donald Trump matters to us here in the UK, and whether Brexit would be a disaster for UK businesses.

Andrew Kerr, Partner and Head of Company & Commercial Law at Wilson Browne Solicitors addressed the guests regarding the practicalities and details of exiting and/or disposing of a business, providing a brief guide of what they could do in the “here and now” to ensure a smooth sale at an appropriate future time.

Joe Mellings, Head of Mid Corporate Debt Origination at Barclays, gave a useful insight into the key considerations for both businesses and the (chosen) banks when considering a business sale, plus the most appropriate financing structure options.

Finally Lee Platt, Wealth Planning Director expressed his views on how to go about sourcing the right wealth advice for business owners, how to estimate the amount that would secure your future following the sale of your business and the importance of planning ahead to reduce your potential tax liabilities.
