Beaches Logistics Group operates a network of haulage and warehousing businesses throughout the UK and has been running its Milton Keynes depot based in Kiln Farm for the last 16 months.
Since then the company, which also has depots in Oxford, Carlisle and Newcastle, has taken on a new Managing Director Elaine Harries, who has been driving a period of rapid growth and boosted the workforce with a number of new recruits.
She said: “This is a really exciting time for us. Beaches Logistics Group has only been operating out of the Milton Keynes depot for a relatively short period of time, so really is the ‘new kid on the block’. But with the right team and our combined industry expertise, we are shaking things up to offer a first-class service to our customers.”
Despite only being established in 2017, the company, which is a member of Palletways providing express UK and European palletised distribution services, has quickly earned a reputation for using innovative technologies that not only add value for its customers, but drive efficiency across the supply chain. Its online customer portal also provides total visibility, allowing deliveries to be monitored from start to finish, in real time.”
Prior to joining Beaches Logistics Group, Elaine worked as Managing Director at a national and international courier and haulage service based in Northamptonshire for eight years. During this time, she established a driver training and recruitment agency, and was heavily involved in the local business community as a director of the local Business Improvement District (BID) - something she is keen to replicate in Milton Keynes. Armed with extensive logistics and haulage experience, Elaine is well connected within the industry. Her extensive CV also covers debt management and specialist vehicle tracking experience.
Since joining the company, Elaine has recruited three new additional Business Development Managers and a Customer Service Manager who all joined the team in June. The new recruits, along with the rest of the team, will concentrate on growing the business whilst ensuring the depot continues to deliver an exceptional service to its customers.
Over the last 12 months, Beaches Logistics Group has been focussed on investing in new vehicles. Each vehicle is supported by the latest telematics which monitor driver work hours and driver behaviour such as harsh braking and idling and are used to identify the ‘Driver of the Week’ and ‘Driver of the Month’ accolades.
Elaine works closely with three other key members of the team at the Milton Keynes depot: General Manager Terry Fouracre; Customer Service Manager Nicole Murphy; and Business Development Manager Ollie Rooke.
Prior to Beaches Logistics Group, Terry worked at NYK, Kuehne-Nagel and Macfarlane Packaging as a multi-site logistics manager. He holds his national and international Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) and has a proven track record in achieving targets whilst prioritising a varied workload. Terry leads by example and facilitates the growth in his team with support and training. His role is focused on project management and achieving results, delivering on time and within budgetary requirements, whilst realising cost savings to the business.
Nicole has more than 18 years of customer service experience and implements initiatives to increase customer satisfaction, drive change, embed quality and deliver highly efficient, cost effective and customer-focused operations. Her experience is within customer service contact centre environments and includes a successful track record of identifying and delivering improvements, maximising performance and reducing costs, failure and demand.
Ollie has worked in sales and account management for more than eight years and has a passion for everything transport. His areas of expertise include UK distribution, importing and exporting into Europe, deep sea freight management and warehouse solutions. He manages regular meetings with current and potential customers and is committed to understanding the inner workings of each company he works with to ensure the best possible service and efficiency.
“I’m excited to be working with such a young and vibrant team,” added Elaine. “Milton Keynes is an exciting place to do business with a diverse range of customers. We’re proud to be members of the UK’s largest overnight pallet network Palletways and to offer complete UK coverage for overnight pallets at very competitive rates. As standard, we provide 24-hour and 48-hour delivery services, complimented by additional options such as free book in services, timed deliveries and AM/PM deliveries.”
