Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week

It’s celebration time at Starting Off. From the 5th to 9th March 2018, the 11th National Apprenticeship Week (NAW 2018) will be celebrated by employers, apprentices and local businesses across the country.

During the week, employers and apprentices from across England will come together to celebrate the success of apprenticeships, including Starting Off, whilst encouraging even more people to choose apprenticeships as a pathway to a great career.

This year’s theme is ‘Apprenticeships Work’ which will be highlighting why apprenticeships work for not just apprentices and employers, but for the wider community.

In 2017, Starting Off gained new contracts with some of the biggest employers in the county, which was encouraged by the apprenticeship levy coming into play. They now recruit and train apprentices for over 40 levy companies including Northampton and Daventry councils. They also had a record year for how many apprentices were on courses with them. At the end of 2017, they had 280 apprentices on the programme.

At Starting Off, they are pleased to be celebrating the occasion throughout the week by attending school events to promote apprenticeships. They will also be running some social media campaigns to showcase our current apprentices and attract new ones.

Katie Goodall, Sales and Operations Manager at Starting Off commented:

“It's so important to showcase apprenticeships because I think there is still a perception that apprenticeships are for those that didn't get the grades for sixth form or University - which just isn't the case.

“We are now seeing some really high academic achievers choosing apprenticeships over the other options. This is because it's a great way to learn and earn and gain a career and avoid all the debt!”

Starting Off have recently developed a Digital Marketing apprenticeship qualification which they are rolling out this year. “We currently have two learners on the programme which is already proving successful. The course covers everything from SEO to Google analytics. It's really forward thinking and we are excited to bring it to market” commented Katie Goodall.
