A conference for professionals involved in a range of areas of estate management, development, planning, building, education and investment is being held on the Northants/Oxfordshire border this June.
The Technical CPD Conference, entitled ‘Capturing Environmental Value’ is taking place at The Great Barn in Aynho on Wednesday 19th June. It is aimed at planners, developers, housebuilders, architects and project managers as well as private estate and woodland owners, investors and educators.
Environmental planning and forestry consultants Lockhart Garratt have organised the conference in response to the Government’s 25-year Environment Plan, the Agricultural Bill and the Environment Nett Gain Consultation. With the resulting focus on the environment being greater than ever, the event has been designed to help professionals identify what the new legislation will mean for their business in the coming years and how they can develop strategies to capitalise on opportunities and effectively deal with challenges.
Technical updates on the day will cover the topics of Arboriculture, Ecology, Forestry & Woodland Management, Landscape & Green Infrastructure and Soils & Land Restoration.
Merrick Denton-Thompson, past President of the Landscape Institute will be giving the keynote speech ‘The Future of the Countryside’ with a focus on tying in rural land management with environmental planning. He will also discuss the Environment Land Management Scheme (ELMS), the Review of Protected Landscapes and the need for a review of the Green Belt.
“I am very much looking forward to chairing our inaugural Technical CPD Conference”
comments Lockhart Garratt Chairman John Lockhart. “There has never been a more important time to focus on the environment, and the team of specialists and technical experts we have assembled for the day are ideally placed to brief on current thinking on recent developments, answer questions and bust myths.
Our keynote speaker Merrick Denton-Thompson will share his extensive experience in the protection and preservation of the natural and built environment and help to bring together the themes of the day. We know that the audience will benefit from what promises to be a fascinating and educational talk in the context of this time of new challenges and opportunities.”
In addition to the main agenda of the day, there will also be the opportunity for delegates to ask questions and network with fellow professionals.
Tickets to the event, which runs from 8.30am – 2pm, cost £30. Refreshments, breakfast rolls and a buffet lunch are included in the ticket price.
