Grays Close Development
Grays Close Development is the latest project by Bishopsrock Construction Ltd. Situated in Thrapston, it is ideally located for excellent road and rail links, but what exceeds its locality is the design, craftsmanship, finish and thoughtfulness.
Mel Mayne, Managing Director of Bishopsrock Construction Ltd explains the thoughtfulness behind this development. ‘Whilst our homes are very similar, each one is unique. However, our ambition is to provide a healthy modern housing with an excellent finish.”
Mel added, “We only design and build homes that we would live in ourselves. We want our homes to be healthy and family orientated. SICK Building Syndrome, was brought to my attention a few years ago, so we have gone to great lengths to ensure our homes are designed and built to provide healthy living”.
SICK Building Syndrome is where the occupants of a building experience acute health or comfort related effects and whilst no specific illness or disease can be identified, Bishopsrock Construction Ltd are purposely designing their homes to prevent this. SICK Building Syndrome occurs due to poor ventilation, lack of natural daylight and small rooms.
“You will find that our homes have larger rooms to create that communal feel where families can spend time. Where possible we use triple glazing and have large velux windows and roof windows providing lots of natural light.”
All of the homes at Grays Close Development come with a MHRVS (Mechanical Heat Recovery & Ventilation System), something Mel believes should be mandatory. “A MHRVS, which is installed in the roof, gets rid of bad air, bringing fresh air into the home whilst preserving the heat. These should be part of every new build as it ensures that fresh air is constantly circulating, making it a healthier environment to live in.”
Bishopsrock Construction Ltd are big believers of buying local and 96% of the tradesmen that worked on Grays Close Development are based within 8 miles. This coupled with the excellent designs and environmentally friendly strategy has seen Bishopsrock Construction Ltd shortlisted by the LBC (Local Building Control) as SME Developer of the Year.
The last 2 years have been very busy for Bishopsrock Construction Ltd, and there is no sign of it slowing down as Mel will be starting projects in Ellington and Bourne and acquiring sites in Kettering and Wellingborough in 2018. “The future is very exciting for us. We take immense pride in each of our developments and we feel Northamptonshire is a great location for our projects. We want to work with more architects and see more of our unique developments across the county.”
