An accountancy student from local training and recruitment specialist Starting Off has been presented with the prestigious AAT Student of the Year award.
AAT (The Association of Accounting Technicians) are an accountancy body with 85,000 student members.
Rob is an amazing example of how the AAT qualification can transform lives and was nominated for the award by Starting Off for his determination and application to his studies.
Rob was 45 when he started AAT with Starting Off in October 2014. He was working nights at a warehouse and looking after his children during the day. Rob was determined to take his working life in a different direction and decided on trying accountancy.
In order to get some work experience Rob went to an agency and volunteered to do office experience. The agency let him do a few hours work experience each week (he was still working night shifts at this point) and helped him with his CV. They managed to get him an administration role at ABL in Wellingborough with a view to the role developing into an accounts position.
At result of studying AAT, in the space of 2 years Rob has gone from working night shifts in a warehouse to Credit Controller for ABL in Wellingborough. He is now on his AAT Level 4 qualification and is proving a huge asset for his company.
“Rob’s passion for learning, and commitment to ensuring that work is completed accurately and to the highest standards, cannot be questioned. Rob consistently delivers work to the highest standards using a real “thoroughness”, sound judgement, and attention to detail. Rob is a real asset to our company, ABL.”
Well done Rob for all your dedication and hard work!
