Local Partnerships Support Local Ruby Club
Local Architectural practice Sursham Tompkins and Evans Cook Solicitors have continued their sponsorship of Wellingborough Rugby Club by supplying a change strip from their traditional white with a red hoop.
Mark Croxen from Sursham Tompkins and Alison Cook Partner at Evans Cook have been affiliated with the club for over 30 years with Mark being a former colt and first team player / junior coach and now an East Midland’s Referee.
Sursham Tompkins was originally based in Wellingborough before expanding and moving to Cottage Farm in Sywell in 2003 and were part of the team that secured Lottery Funding to extend Wellingborough Rugby Club in 1995 and thus become the first Rugby Club in Britain to obtain lottery funding.
Mike Evans and Alison Cook formed Evans Cook on Broad Green, Wellingborough in May 2007 and have been club sponsors since then.
The sporting link with Sursham Tompkins has continued with the company designing Cricket Pavilions at Kettering, Wollaston, Irthlingborough / Wilby Football Club Changing Facilities / Old Grammarians Memorial Sports Facilities and more recently the Sports Building at Wrenn School in Wellingborough and Community Centre and Changing Rooms at St. Crispin’s in Northampton.
Currently the practice has a £2.5M Sports Building and All-Weather Pitch at Latimer Arts College in Barton Seagrave, Kettering which commenced in January 2019 and a multi-million pound Extension to West Ham United Football Club Academy training facilities at Chadwell Heath nearing completion in March 2019.
The West Ham connection started in 1994 when the practice was invited to Upton Park to undertake an internal refurbishment of the offices used by Manager Billy Bonds and Assistant Manager Harry Redknapp.
Mark Croxen recalled ‘It was a very surreal day, meeting the Stadium Team, having a bit of a guided tour and eating my sandwiches in the stands.’ Following that project Sursham Tompkins have been retained for numerous projects by the club including their relocation into the Olympic Stadium & refurbishment work at their training facilities.
