A healthy mind and a healthy body are good for the soul… or so
they say, and there are huge health benefits both mentally and physically for anyone involved in any type of sport. Exercise is a proven antidote to maintain a stress-free work life balance. Healthy people are happy people; happy people are an asset to a business.
Now in its eighth year, the 5k race series, organised by Northamptonshire Sport takes full advantage of the beautiful parklands and woodlands on our doorstep. Five challenging races were held throughout the summer at Deene Park, Corby, Brixworth Country Park, Salcey Forest, Delapre Abbey and the final race at Irchester Country Park. Over 500 runners including Wilson Browne’s Marketing Executive Naomi Edwards, tackled the multi-terrain courses. From club runners and jogging groups to those completely new to running, the race series offered something for everyone. More than a three quarters (81%) of the runners were not affiliated to a running club, possibly because they are new to running which is a huge endorsement of the race for the local area.
Naomi commented: “Wilson Browne has a long history of supporting charities and organisations so we’re delighted to sponsor the Race Series. As a firm we offer a great work/life balance for our own employees, many of whom are runners and joggers. You don’t have to be a hardcore runner or athlete – anyone can do it. All it takes is a little determination and there is lots of help out there to help those wishing to do ‘couch to 5k’. This sponsorship allows us to help inspire others in our local community to go out and enjoy our wonderful local Northamptonshire parks and woodlands that we can often overlook. Equally significant to the firm is to recognise and value our own people. We all have busy lives but it is important to encourage employees to partake in a proper work-life balance whilst living a healthy lifestyle.”
As a firm, Wilson Browne Solicitors is committed to Corporate Responsibility, acting as a responsible employer within the community and ensuring it puts something back. The firm is rightly proud of its involvement in the local community and many of its lawyers are actively involved in community organisations across the East Midlands, raising money for local and national charities.
