Family business is moving in the right direction

Xpress Relocation, a company that specialises in commercial relocations, has helped a business to move medical diagnostic instruments from one site to another in Milton Keynes.

The move saw Xpress Relocation transport five sets of racking from a store area to a new warehouse at the Sysmex site in Wymbush. The team worked in sequences to load the racking onto pallets, starting at the top left of the store. This approach allowed for the Sysmex team to access the stock as the racking was split and moved across to the new warehouse. Xpress Relocation then unpacked the stock into a new racking system, completing the whole move in just one day.

Jade Taylor, sales and marketing manager at Xpress Relocation, said: “We really enjoyed working on the Sysmex move. It was fascinating to see inside a business that is at the forefront of diagnostic technology in the fields of haematology and coagulation.

“Even though we are based in Milton Keynes ourselves, much of our relocation work sees us travel all over the country, so it was good to work locally and we are keen to work with more MK companies.”

Xpress Relocation has been based in Milton Keynes since it was established in 1996. The company was set up by husband and wife John and Belinda Taylor, who wanted to give customers a friendly, professional relocation service, tailored to their individual needs. Years later, their children, Jade and Jenson, joined the company, turning it into a fully-fledged family business.

For more than 20 years, Xpress Relocation has been providing office and home moves, with much of its business coming from word of mouth or repeat business. They have completed many moves locally, such as Aston Martin, Milton Keynes College, Open University, ROI, Sodastream and most recently relocated the MK Council’s new Civic Office HQ in Central Milton Keynes. They also have built up a very enviable portfolio of blue chip clients throughout the UK with names like Viacom International, Experian, MBDA and Virgin Active who all know they can trust Xpress to deliver a top professional service, often at very short notice, time after time.

Now, Xpress Relocation has 35 members of staff and regularly works with businesses to carry out a ‘full move service’ which sees it also supply and install furniture, move whole IT networks, archive files, store items securely, and dispose of any items no longer required. It also boasts its own fleet of vehicles.

“As the business has grown, so has our offering,” said Jade. “We have had to move with the times. Relocating a business is about so much more than just moving belongings from one place to another. We also need to ensure business continuity for our clients. We have moved offices, factories, hospitals and educational facilities for years now and each comes with its own unique set of challenges.

“We work closely with our clients to understand their business, evaluate the scope of their removals project, and identify the correct resources needed to ensure it is a success.”

Xpress Relocation is accredited to Quality Standard (BS 8522), the only British standard specific to commercial moving, and is a member of both the British Association of Removers (BAR) and the Commercial Moving Group.
